To our sponsors
We Americans have a deep respect for our fellow citizens who have, will and continue to serve in our armed forces. This feeling is most evident when our men and women make the call to duty during wartime. However, upon their return from the battle field, some are less fortunate than others. For those less fortunate, we are here to serve in a voluntary capacity in an effort to assist in some small way to help provide a better life for them and their families through a charitable cause. For those that made the ultimate sacrifice, we hope to be able to aid their families through the difficult times they must face without the presence of their loved one.
The 2007 "America Supports You" (ASY) Event held at TPC Tampa Bay raised over $226,000 for our military charities, placing our venue number ONE of all the TPC clubs in the country. Numerous accolades were received from our men and women in uniform regarding this event. This year our goal is to be even more generous – to raise more than $500,000. Last year our administrative expenses were held to 8% and we intend on holding those expenses at the same level again this year. In order to accomplish our goal we need your help and support.
The event name has been changed this year to "Birdies for the Brave"; however, the recipient charities are the same. Birdies for the Brave is the PGA TOUR's primary vehicle for supporting the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Since 2005, the TOUR has joined with PGA TOUR players and corporate partners to raise millions of dollars for military homefront groups that directly serve military men and women lost or seriously injured in performance of their duty, through fundraising events at TPC clubs nationwide.
The Birdies for the Brave Tampa Bay Event will again be held at TPC Tampa Bay on December 5th (Friday- Fund Raiser, Auction & Motorcycle giveaway) and December 6th (Saturday - Golf Tournament). You can help us make this important event a great success with your sponsorship and donations. Net proceeds raised at TPC Tampa Bay will be distributed by PGA TOUR Charities to the following six beneficiaries:
- Homes For Our Troops - A non-profit organization supported by TOUR player Phil Mickelson that adapts or builds new homes for accessibility for servicemen and women returning to America with serious injuries and disabilities.
- Special Operations Warrior Foundation - A non-profit organization supported by TOUR Player Phil Mickelson dedicated to providing free college scholarships and educational counseling to the children of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps Special Operations personnel lost in performance of their duty.
- Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund - A non-profit organization supported by TOUR player Rory Sabbatini that provides financial support for the families of military personnel lost in performance of their duty.
- Wounded Warrior Project - A non-profit group supported by TOUR player Frank Lickliter that provides unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of servicemen and women severely injured in the line of duty.
- Naval Special Warfare Foundation - A non-profit group supported by TOUR Player Jerry Kelly dedicated to providing educational and motivational support, promoting health and welfare programs for the Naval Special Warfare community, and perpetuating the history and heritage of the U.S. Naval Commandos.
- Operation Home Front - A non-profit organization supported by TOUR Player Corey Pavin that provides emergency assistance and morale to our troops, to the families they leave behind, and to wounded warriors when they return home.
